More Information on the Gateway EmX Extension
The second EmX corridor, also known as the Gateway EmX Extension project, was approved by the Springfield City Council, Lane County Board of Commissioners, and LTD Board of Directors in November 2006. In May 2008, LTD received approval from the Springfield City Council to complete the final design and construct the Gateway EmX Extension.
This route will extend the existing EmX service traveling between downtown Eugene and downtown Springfield to the popular Gateway area. Beginning in January 2011, the extended EmX service will carry passengers to the Gateway Mall, the University of Oregon, downtown Eugene and Springfield, area motels and neighborhoods, and the many businesses and employers along the way including Sacred Heart Medical Center, Royal Caribbean, Symantec, and many more.

Gateway Station
Lane Transit District opened the new Gateway Station at Gateway Mall on June 14, 2009. The station serves regular LTD buses and it will serve EmX vehicles when the Gateway EmX Extension begins service in late 2010.
The new Gateway Station is located adjacent to Gateway Street. It is more central to Gateway Mall and it better serves the neighborhoods east of the mall than the former station at the south end of the mall.
The $2 million Gateway Station was funded by the State of Oregon ConnectOregon program and the Federal Transit Administration. Visit the LTD website for more background on the new Gateway Station.
