Alder Street/University District Improvement Proje (Project completed)

Completed: Yes
Jurisdiction: City of Eugene Mode: Road
Description:

A project to reconstruct Alder Street (Broadway to 18th Avenue) and 13th Avenue (Hilyard to Kincaid) combines standard pavement repair work and innovative streetscaping improvements, including a two-way “cycle track” on Alder between Franklin and 18th Avenue.

Timeline: Summer 2011 - Fall 2011
Traffic Impacts:

Details are still being worked out. While the section of Alder Street from 13th to 18th avenues is being reconstructed, the street will be closed. Sidewalks will remain open. In other project work zone, one lane of traffic will be maintained during construction. However, parking will be limited and delays are likely. Additional information will be provided once construction begins.

Work Schedule:

Construction dates have not yet been established. The project phasing will include:

  • A phase to reconstruct Alder Street from 13th to 18th avenues
  • One or more phases to reconstruct Alder Street from 11th to 13th avenues
  • One or more phases to reconstruct Alder Street from Franklin Boulevard to 11th Avenue
  • One or more phases to repave and redesign 13th Avenue from Alder to Kincaid streets, including rebuilding the intersection of 13th Avenue and Kincaid Street
Funding:

The primary source of funding for the $2 million project is the voter-approved bond measure to fix Eugene’s streets, plus a $707,000 state Bicycle-Pedestrian Program grant, transportation SDCs, stormwater and wastewater funds, and local gas tax revenues.
