18th Avenue, Washington to Chambers (Project completed)

Completed: Yes
MTIP: None Construction Year: 2013
Jurisdiction: City of Eugene Mode: Road
Bike
Description:

West 18th Avenue from Washington Street to 510' east of Chambers Street will be rehabilitated in 2013. Rehabilitation of the surface includes replacing the top layers of deteriorated pavement and removing sections of pavement that have completely failed.  The project will also reconstruct sidewalk access ramps to meet accessibility standards.  The current roadway surface material is concrete and will be reconstructed using concrete. Pavement projects provide an opportunity to reevaluate the existing configuration of the roadway such as changes in how the space is allocated for different travel modes (auto, transit, bicycle, etc.).  For West 18th Avenue, changes to the current configuration include removing one side of on-street parking to widen the travel lanes and bike lanes.

Timeline: Work is scheduled to begin in May and be completed this summer.
Traffic Impacts:

Expect significant delays, road and lane closures and detours during paving construction. Watch for flaggers and equipment and workers in the roadway. Use alternate routes.

Work Schedule:

Detailed information will be posted on this site once construction begins.

Funding:

The major sources of funding for this project come from the 2008 voter-approved bond measure to fix streets and local fuel taxes. Additional funding is coming from stormwater and wastewater utility fees.
