Olive Street, 10th Avenue and Broadway (Project completed)

Completed: Yes
MTIP: None Construction Year: 2013
Jurisdiction: City of Eugene Mode: Road
Description:

The City of Eugene is scheduled to repair three streets in the downtown area in 2013:

  • Broadway from the west side of Lincoln Street to the east side of Monroe Street;
  • West 10th Avenue from the west side of Olive Street to the west side of Jefferson Street; and
  • Olive Street from the south side of 10th Avenue to the north side of 11th Avenue.

On Broadway and West 10th, the existing pavement and base rock will be removed and replaced, or alternatively, recycled in-place and repaved, curb to curb. Sidewalk access ramps will be reconstructed a number of locations.

On Olive Street, the existing pavement and base rock will be removed and replaced with concrete pavement. Also, audible pedestrian push-buttons will be added to the intersection of Olive Street and West 10th Avenue.

Road Closure:

Olive Street between 12th and 13th avenues will be closed for approximately six months starting April 1 to protect motorists, cyclists and pedestrians from heavy equipment and construction activity on a major housing project being constructed by Capstone Collegiate Communities. The closure includes sidewalks on both sides of Olive Street between 12th and 13th avenues as well as the sidewalks on the north side of 13th Avenue between Charnelton and Willamette and the sidewalk on the west side of Willamette next to the building site. The closed areas will be fenced off to keep motorists, cyclists and pedestrians a safe distance from active work zones.

Timeline: Spring/summer 2013
Traffic Impacts:

Expect significant delays and lane detours during paving construction. Watch for flaggers and equipment and workers in the roadway. Use alternate routes.

Work Schedule:

Detailed information will be posted on this site once construction begins.

Funding:

The major sources of funding for this project come from the 2008 voter-approved bond measure to fix streets and local fuel taxes. Additional funding is coming from stormwater and wastewater utility fees.
