Garden Way, Mahlon Avenue, and Willakenzie Road (Project completed)

Completed: Yes
MTIP: 443 Construction Year: 2015
Jurisdiction: City of Eugene Mode: Road
Description:

This project will include the repair and paving of three streets:

  • Garden Way (Harlow Road to Sisters Avenue),
  • Mahlon Avenue (Garden Way to Honeysuckle) and
  • Willakenzie Road (Coburg Road to Bogart Lane) in north Eugene.

Work will include reconstructing sidewalk access ramps throughout the project in order to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. This project is primarily intended to repair the street pavement, but the full scope of the work is not yet determined and additional elements may be added as the site is further reviewed.

Business Access During Construction? Yes
Timeline:

This project is scheduled for construction beginning April 6, 2015.

Traffic Impacts:

Drivers should expect lane closures and lane shifts during construction. Pedestrians should expect sidewalk detours during the sidewalk ramp work at the intersections. Bicyclists should expect to merge with motor vehicle traffic depending on available lane widths during construction. With any construction, drivers should expect equipment and workers in the roadway leading to congestion and delays during the work.

Work Schedule:

Sidewalk work is scheduled to begin this week on Willakenzie Road from Coburg Road to Bogart Lane, and on North Garden Way from Harlow Road to Mahlon Avenue. Construction workers will be digging up old concrete sidewalks and forming and pouring new concrete walks and ramps. Most of this work will take place outside of the travel lanes and cause minimal impacts to traffic flow. As always, be extra cautious around construction work
zones and expect some construction traffic.

Funding:

This project is primarily funded by the street repair bond passed by voters in 2012 and the local gas tax as part of the City’s Pavement Preservation Program.
