West 24th Avenue (Jefferson to Chambers streets), (Project completed)

This project includes removing the existing deteriorated asphalt surfacing on 24th Avenue and on Jefferson Street from 19th to 24th and from 25th to 28th avenues, recycling the existing roadbed in some areas to create a more stable road base, and constructing a new asphalt surface. Sidewalk access ramps will be reconstructed at several locations. On 24th Avenue, post-paving plans call for striping bicycle lanes on both sides of the street between Chambers and Friendly streets.

Work Schedule:

Construction is scheduled in several phases. Sidewalk access ramp work is scheduled to begin by late March. Road work on Jefferson between 19th and 24th will begin after May 15. Road work on Jefferson between 25th and 28th will begin after June 1. Road work on 24th Avenue will begin after June 15.

Detailed work scheduling information will be provided once construction begins.


The major source of funding for the road repairs is the voter-approved bond measure to fix city streets. Transportation system development charges will be used to pay for bike lane striping.
