Timeline: Summer 2011 - Fall 2012
Traffic Impacts: Traffic on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Autzen Stadium will be rerouted onto Leo Harris Parkway for about six weeks beginning Monday, July 11. During construction, a quarter-mile-long section of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed to through traffic between the west end of Leo Harris Parkway and the west side of Justice Center Loop. Local access to Lane County services and other agencies on the north side of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and to the Kinsrow Avenue neighborhood will be provided from the east end of Leo Harris Parkway. Look for signs with directions to specific locations. Allow extra travel time. A temporary refuge island and crosswalk will be created at the west end of Leo Harris Parkway to assist pedestrians. Lane Transit District will continue to serve the bus stop near the west end of Leo Harris Parkway and will add a temporary stop near the east end of the parkway. Service will not be provided to the four stops within the closure area and the two stops adjacent to the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Kinsrow Avenue. Three popular summertime venues – PK Park (home of the Eugene Emeralds), the Science Factory, and Cuthbert Amphitheater – will remain accessible via Leo Harris Parkway.
