18th Avenue Pavement Preservation Project (Project completed)

Completed: Yes
Jurisdiction: City of Eugene Mode: Road
Description: This project will reconstruct the pavement on 18th Avenue. In addition the intersection of Jefferson and 18th will be repaved. Sidewalk access ramps will be reconstructed at several locations.
Timeline: Summer 2011 - Fall 2011
Traffic Impacts: Construction along 18th Avenue will be done in phases. The City will coordinate with local businesses and residents to reduce the impact of construction as much as possible. One lane of traffic in each direction (two lanes total) will be maintained from Washington Street to Pearl Street throughout the project. 18th Avenue from Pearl Street to Patterson Street will be closed for approximately three weeks for reconstruction. Traffic will be routed on 19th Avenue during the closure of 18th. The commercial business section from Willamette to Pearl will be repaved in one evening with a two-block street closure to expedite the paving process. Two lanes of traffic through this area will be open for the duration of the project, except for the one-time closure. Most of the work will be done during daytime hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.).
Work Schedule:

Work is scheduled to begin in early August and be completed in October.

The primary source of funding for the estimated $1.4 million project is the bond measure to fix streets approved by Eugene voters in 2008. Additional funding from Eugene’s stormwater and wastewater fees will be used to repair those underground systems.
