Willamette Street (Downtown) Street Paving Project (Project completed)

Completed: Yes
MTIP: N/A Construction Year: 2016
Jurisdiction: City of Eugene Mode: Road

The City plans to repave Willamette Street from 10th Avenue to 13th Avenue in 2016. The block from 10th Ave to 11th Ave, right next to the LTD station, will be resurfaced. The two blocks from 11th Ave to 13th Ave will be completely reconstructed. The project will add a concrete pad in the street for the bus stop by the Capstone student housing complex.

Business Access During Construction? Yes

This project is scheduled for construction in the summer of 2016.

Traffic Impacts:

Drivers should expect lane closures on Willamette Street during paving and minor detours. Some businesses and apartment complexes will have alternative access routes. There will be several weeks of disruption to bus routes that use Willamette Street. There will be disruptions to the access of the Chase Bank branch at 11th Ave and Willamette St when excavation and paving occurs immediately in front of its driveway on Willamette St. Detours and temporary surfaces will be established to limit the disruptions and delays. With any construction, drivers should expect equipment and workers in the roadway leading to congestion and delays during the work.

Work Schedule:

Prior to paving, utility companies (water, electricity, gas) may be working on Willamette Street fixing or upgrading their systems. It is common practice for utility companies to do this type of work on roads that the City is planning on paving.

The primary source of funding comes from the bond measure to fix streets passed by voters in 2012.
