Interstate 5 and OR 569 Randy Pape Beltline Unit 4

Construction Update - Week of Oct 23, 2017

I-5 @ Beltline Interchange – Unit 4 (MP194 to MP195.75)

Project Summary:

  • Building a new bridge over I-5 to accommodate a reconfigured onramp
  • Building a sound wall south of Beltline and east of Coburg Road
  • Adding an additional lane on eastbound Beltline from Coburg Road to I-5 on ramp
  • Extending the multi-use path for bike and pedestrian travelers. The multi-use path will be extended south, linking Harlow Road to North Garden Way

Remarks: This is the last phase of a multi-year interchange project. Minimal delays during the day are expected. Drivers should expect the potential for night work from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. with single lane closures and rolling slowdowns on eastbound and westbound Beltline for sign bridge installation, striping and shoulder paving work. Striping for Beltline and I-5 southbound is scheduled for next week – drivers should expect single lane closures during the week. The new I-5 northbound alignment is now open. The multi-use path along I-5 southbound is currently under construction between Harlow Road and Chateau Meadows Drive (see attached map with detour route).

The path is expected to reopen by the end of the year. Travelers should expect distractions from off-road work in the area and be prepared for trucks entering and exiting the roadway. Striping on I-5 is scheduled to occur before the end of October. Traffic should expect single lane closures within the project limits between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Drivers should use caution when traveling through the project site and pay attention to the 45 mph speed zone reduction on eastbound Beltline. Oregon State Police are enforcing the speed limit through the work zone area. This project is scheduled to be completed December 2017.
