Construction Update - Week of Feb 9, 2018

I-5 @ Beltline Interchange – Unit 4 (MP 194 to MP 195.75)

Project Summary:

  • Building a new bridge over I-5 to accommodate a reconfigured onramp
  • Building a sound wall south of Beltline and east of Coburg Road
  • Adding an additional lane on eastbound Beltline from Coburg Road to I-5 on ramp
  • Extending the multi-use path for bike and pedestrian travelers. The multi-use path will be extended south, linking Harlow Road to North Garden Way

Remarks: This is the last phase of a multi-year interchange project. Crews are finishing up the multiuse path, electrical items, and will be working on planting. Trucks will be using the SB I-5 to I-105 ramp next week to work on the multiuse path – drivers should use caution and watch for trucks on the off-ramp. This project is scheduled to be completed early 2018.

Description:

Oregon Department of Transportation is completing the final portion of the I-5/Beltline Project with the construction of :

  • A new eastbound Beltline lane from Coburg Road
  • A new eastbound Beltline to northbound I-5 on-ramp with additional acceleration distance
  • A new eastbound Beltline to southbound I-5 on-ramp with additional acceleration distance
  • Completion of the north and south portions of the multiuse bike and pedestrian path
  • A sound wall south of Beltline and east of Coburg Road

Timeline:

The project will be complete in late December 2017 and will be suspended until spring 2018.

Traffic Impacts:

Travelers should expect to see construction crews.  Most work is being done off of the existing roadway. 

Work Schedule:

Mostly Monday through Friday day work. Occasional night work will be done. 

Funding:

$34 million, Jobs in Transportation Act state funds
