Construction Update - Week of Oct 25, 2018

W. Amazon Drive (Hilyard St. to Fox Hollow Rd.):  The contractor is planning to have all work completed by Friday, October 26, weather permitting.  Any work scheduled for the week of October 28 should be minor general site cleanup.  W. Amazon will be open to traffic.  Drivers can expect to see some construction equipment and workers in the roadway and traffic shifts.  As always drive carefully through construction work zones.

Completed: No
Jurisdiction: City of Eugene Mode: Road

• This section of West Amazon Drive is a Major Collector between Hilyard Street and Fox Hollow Road in the Southeast Neighbors Neighborhood.
• This street has severe cracking due to age, heavy traffic loading and poor subgrade conditions and needs to be reconstructed.
• Work will also include reconstructing concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk access ramps.
• This project is primarily intended to repair the street pavement, but other elements may be added to the project as the scope develops.

Business Access During Construction? Yes
Traffic Impacts:

• Drivers should expect street and lane closures and lane shifts during construction with possible one way traffic during some phases of construction.
• Bicyclists should expect to merge with motor vehicle traffic depending on available lane widths during construction.
• With any construction, drivers should expect equipment and workers in the roadway leading to congestion and delays during the work.

Work Schedule:

• This project is scheduled for construction in the summer of 2018.
• Prior to the start of street construction, the City’s arborists may be on-site trimming trees to prevent overhead limbs from being damaged by construction equipment.
• Also prior to construction, utility companies (water, electricity, gas) may be on-site adjusting their facilities in order to avoid conflicts with the work and prevent damage to their facilities.

• The major source of funding is from the voter approved 2012 Pavement Bond Measure.
